Have you ever experienced the taillight warranty? We hope not! That’s the one where the warranty lasts exactly as long as you can see the contractor’s taillights leaving your driveway. Once they’re gone… so is the coverage.
Don’t worry – we don’t do that here.
At RoofTop Contracting, we believe a warranty should actually mean something. So let’s break down what roof warranties really are, what they cover, and most importantly, what rights and protections you have as a homeowner.
First Things First: There’s More Than One Type of Warranty
A lot of homeowners think a “roof warranty” is one single thing.
It’s not. It’s usually a combination of:
- Workmanship warranties – cover the quality of installation
- Manufacturer warranties – cover the roofing materials themselves
Both matter. One protects how the roof was installed. The other protects what it was made with.
Understanding the difference helps you know who to call, what’s covered, and what protections you actually have if something goes wrong.
RoofTop’s Workmanship Warranty
We stand behind our installs because honestly… that’s the part we fully control.
We offer workmanship warranties for 5 and 10 years, depending on the project and homeowner preference. RoofTop stands out here – many roofing companies’ base warranty will be much less than 5 years. We believe 5 years is the minimum homeowners deserve after a roof replacement.
Quick Look at Coverage
Warranty Length | What It Means |
5 Years | Solid coverage for most standard installs |
10 Years | Maximum protection and peace of mind |
What Our 10-Year Workmanship Warranty Includes
Our company provides a workmanship warranty for 10 years from the date of final payment.
For this agreement, the term project includes both primary services and ancillary services.
To use the warranty, the customer must contact our company directly so we can assess and perform the repairs. If a homeowner or third party attempts repairs before contacting us, the workmanship warranty becomes null and void.
The warranty does not extend to preexisting conditions, including but not limited to:
- Prior structural damage
- Old fascia or siding
- Rotted wood
- Interior ceiling cracks
This protects both you and us — ensuring issues are addressed properly and fairly.
Manufacturer Warranty Option: GAF System Plus
As a GAF Certified Contractor, when installing their roofing system on your home, we can also register you for the System Plus Limited Warranty.
This enhanced warranty covers:
- Manufacturing defects or recalls in the materials
- Workmanship coverage tied to installation
- Extended protection beyond basic material warranties
Because it applies to both materials and installation, this option gives homeowners stronger protection than a basic shingle warranty alone.
What Is NOT Covered Under The Warranties?
With workmanship and material defects being covered, it’s important to note that there is one other large factor that plays a role in these coverages: Storm damage.
If it rains hard and you notice a roof leak through your drywall, you are covered. RoofTop will assess how the leak occurred and handle it. This is not the case for catastrophic weather events.
Homeowner’s Insurance policies typically extend coverage for
- Extreme winds
- Impactful hail damage
- Falling trees
When these extreme weather events out of our control occur- the coverage typically transfers to your insurance carrier.
Each policy is different and it is good practice to check your coverages annually to make sure you are adequately protected.
Why Warranties Matter for Georgia Homeowners
Here in Georgia, roofs don’t live easy lives.
Between summer heat, heavy storms, wind-driven rain, and the occasional surprise hail event, your roof is constantly being tested. A warranty isn’t just paperwork — it’s your protection plan.
A strong warranty helps you:
- Know who is responsible if something fails
- Avoid unexpected repair costs
- Protect your home’s resale value
- Ensure installation meets professional standards
Most importantly, it ensures you’re not left figuring things out alone if an issue comes up.
That’s your right as a homeowner — to understand your coverage and to know what protections you actually have.
Why RoofTop’s Warranty Options Stand Out
We don’t treat warranties as a checkbox.
We treat them as part of the service.
When you choose RoofTop, you get:
- Clear warranty terms (no fine-print surprises)
- Multiple workmanship coverage options
- Manufacturer warranty registration handled for you
- A team that actually answers the phone if something comes up
Because at the end of the day, a warranty only matters if the company behind it is still there when you need them.
